Boy, if I don't blog more often then I do I just forget all the little things. We left "A Little bit of Heaven" the next day and traveled about 2 hours till we got to Port Isabel/So. Padres Island. What a beautiful community we stayed in. Long Island Village. Must have been about 600 sites. Half of them on waterways, like our place in SVL only their fingers go to the Gulf of Mexico and not some little dinky man- made lake. They have a little 18 hole, 3 par golf course we plan on playing. That was Friday, Jan. 22. After setting up camp we drove around and went to the chamber of commerce in S.Padres Island. What a place. I guess during Spring break it is like Havasu or Balboa. Not somewhere where we want to be. We went to dinner at Louie's Backyard restaurant, (recommenced). Thought we were going to get a great fish dinner, you know on the gulf, overlooking the ocean etc, etc, etc, but oh no. They brought my dinner and Ronnie's first. I had some kind of white fish. It was cold and ugly. After we were almost done they brought Jimmy and Carol's. At least theirs weren't cold. I don't think anyone liked what they got. Mental note. . . . . .don''t go back to Louie's! (like we'll ever be here again)LOL Saturday we road our bikes into town. Had to wait at the bridge while it swung open (not up like a draw bridge) to let boats go through. They do it every hour and also whenever a boat needs to go through. I took pictures of pelican. If I knew how to post them I would. That's my next lesson. I promise. I really don't feel safe on my pretty pink Schwinn that Kristen gave me but I'm such a good sport, I'll risk my all to do something adventurous. What else do I have to do??? There is a very old lighthouse there and two museums. We went to them the next
Thursday. Anyway, when we got back the guys went fishing. There still hasn't been a fish fry yet. Jimmy caught a Whiting ( so he says) but didn't bring back

We left Zapada this morning but will think of the little town and the small spanish branch I attended last Sunday I, a converted house and not even a steppel on it. I got there at 10am and there were only 2 other people there. they were waiting for speakers from Larado. By 10:20 they started and it had filled up. The Branch Pres. announced in English for me and in Spanish. One Elder played the piano the other one led the music. I sang in English while the rest sang in Spanish. I couldn't understand the talks but it was quite nice. I was not going to stay for Sunday School or Relief Society but a sister said there would be someone to interpret for me. So I stayed for RR. They did not even have SS. Everyone was very friendly and I really enjoyed being there and glad I went. Monday was a beautiful day so we all played golf. It is only a 9 whole that you play twice. Not a bad little course. (I played really well) the guys went fishing Tuesday, still no fish. The lake is very big and beautiful though. Wednesday they had a golf tournament so we went. They team Ronnie was on and team Carol was on both came in a tie for 1st place. We made the missionaries dinner and took it to them by 5:00, (didn't think they get many da's there) got up this morning and left. We made it to a town called Donna. Lots of RV places but only a few had space available. We have decided to only stay for the night and head down to Brownsville in the morning.

Rain, rain go away

Last week I spent about 40 min. starting with the beginning of our trip. Since I didn't finish I thought I would save it and add to it till I got caught up. Wee, as luck would have it I actually didn't save it so I am going to begin with today, January 16, 2009.

I think a little black cloud is following the motor home. Yesterday it poured down raining. Ronnie was sitting around doing a crossword puzzle and heard a noise. When he investigated he found water flooding into the passenger window. We put a pan to catch the rain coming in from the front window and tried to keep up with the other with towels. Thank goodness I remembered the SHAM-WOW towels Troy gave us for Christmas. Poor Ron, he put his raincoat on and braved the downpour and went outside to try and put tape where it was coming in. Didn't help. So we took turns sopping up the water for about a half hour. Then Ronnie put the jacks up higher in the front and it finally stopped. After one day and one night the rain stopped and it was nice out today. Not even real cold. I did get to take a nice walk and Ron and Jim went fishing in the boat. I don't think we are ever going to have a fish fry. They have yet to catch a fish. Our luck has got to change soon.

A Note From the Producers.....

Mom and Dad are off on the adventure of a lifetime. In an attempt to keep all of their kids and grandkids and friends up to date on their travels, Hannah and I have created this blog for them. Remember the "Adventure Club" from the late 70's and early 80's? Well this is the adventure to end all adventures! They packed their possessions in boxes and wrapped their mattresses in something akin to flypaper and have loaded only the necessities into Tasha's motorhome. Join them as they go to every Walmart and chapel from here to New York trying to avoid the cold weather. We can't wait to read of their adventures.
